Chinese New Year is the most important celebration of Chinese people. The Chinese New Year celebrations begin on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) on the Chinese calendar and end with Cap Go Meh 十五 暝 元宵節 on the 15th (during the full moon). Chinese New Year's Eve is known as Chúxī 除夕 which means "New Year's Eve".
